So how often should the transmission fluid be changed? As referenced above, read your owner’s manual for the manufacturer’s recommendation. It should agree with your mechanic’s advice. Typically, a manual transmission requires a temporary transmission flush between every 30,000-60,000 miles. For automatic transmission, a transmission flush is recommended between every 60,000 to 100,000 miles.

  • Whining Noise
  • Grinding Noise
  • Delayed Shifting
  • Popping out of Gear
  • Transmission Fluid Leak

Tip to Remember: Have the level of transmission fluid checked between service intervals (such as at every oil change). Irreparable damage to the engine and transmission can be caused due to lack of lubrication because of low transmission fluid.
