Phil's service

As per estimates, the average vehicle owner drives their vehicle for at least ten to fifteen thousand miles each year. As the miles accumulate, wear and tear on parts and systems, of course, are present. Thus, even when worrying that everything is fine and the car can be driven, there are still operational activities that must be carried out on the vehicle to ensure that it is in a good state. This leads us to the question, how often do you need to get your car serviced?

Inquire with your auto mechanic about how often you must assess your vehicle and its working parts for wear or damage following your last inspection. Most technicians will advise a complete evaluation every 12000 miles or within 12 months. At such a time, the technician will be able to find underlying issues that could be hidden within the engine.

In your manual, you can find all the car repair service items that need to be done once in a while and at what intervals of mileage for your specific vehicle; these include:

  1. The car framework is inspected regularly.
  2. Air cleaner.
  3. Changing the timing chain.
  4. Care of the gas systems.
  5. Headlamps, indicators, etc.
  6. Description of tires & tire maintenance items- tire pressure and rotation.
  7. Inspection of the brakes and repair if necessary.
  8. Unit radiator and coolant.
  9. Power steering fluid.
  10. Unit transmission – oil and filter.

Most features are for virtually all the automatic service reminders in cars, especially new makes of vehicles from service to be done. Should you happen to have an old registered vehicle, that is no excuse, as you shall still need to watch the mileage operating time over a period. Therefore, always fetch the owner’s manual (kept somewhere deep in the glove box) and check what the manufacturer recommends about your car repair.
